I’m holding it to the bare minimum standards of a reasonable society. Just because we’re used to how shitty things are doesn’t mean we shouldn’t at least plug our noses against the smell.

How very presumptuous of you. You’re wrong, of course. If I was apathetic enough to ignore my civic duty, I wouldn’t have commented to begin with; I’d’ve just downvoted and moved on.
Just because I protest the hypocrisy of the Democratic party and their candidate doesn’t mean I prefer the unfiltered evil of the Republican party and theirs.

I’m not sure that widespread use of the platform is indicative of widespread love of the platform. People are entrenched, have sunk so much into it, and can’t find acceptable alternatives (cries in Fediverse). I’d guess that most people still using the platform do so out of necessity/ obligation while wishing for something better.
The obvious answer is to abandon GaaS as a concept and focus making more great single player games like the ones that put Playstation into a clear lead in this generation of the console wars.
However, we’ve seen that a massive failure in the space isn’t enough to deter the truly greedy coughWBcough, so who knows?
Can you explain how you came to that conclusion?
The way I understand it, generative AI training is more like a single person analyzing art at impossibly fast speeds, then using said art as inspiration to create new art at impossibly fast speeds.
That was the case when GTAV launched, but GTAO has been available as a free standalone game for at least a couple years now.
I don’t care for it myself, but I can see the appeal. The core gameplay of GTAO is solid and very driven by emergent socialization and competition, so it’s no big surprise people spend way too much money on it.
But hey, if those whales are financing the development of GTAVI, I can live with it.
This kills the developer.
Honestly, I’d like a little grinding. Just enough that unlocking a character feels like an accomplishment.
But no paid DLC characters is great news!
Diablo 3 went from zero to hero with Reaper of Souls. I desperately want D4 to follow that same development path, but the Blizzard of old is long dead, and its rotting, zombified corpse has lost most of what made it great in life.
Still keeping my metaphorical fingers crossed, though, and hoping for a miracle.
Sounds like something an AI-loving Nazi would say!
Seriously, though, yes. This was exactly my first thought. There are plenty of reasons to be apprehensive about AI, but conflating it with Nazis is just blatant propaganda.
What an absurd, ignorant notion. Of course social media has a negative impact on developing minds, but forcing sites to display warnings would have zero positive impact. Browser extensions would immediately pop up to hide those warnings, and if anything, the presence of such warnings would increase kids’ use of social media, since the danger is something even adults had a hard time understanding and kids love to rebel against oppressive systems. The warnings would turn into memes.
The only answers to this problem are to break up and ban social media companies (not possible) or get parents to actually be parents and teach their kids about the pitfalls of social media.
The Steam Deck is the best thing to happen to Linux since… Linux. It’s the first time average tech illiterate folks have gotten a taste of Linux on their own systems, and it’s driven the development of compatibility tools (Proton) to a hitherto-unheard-of degree.
It convinced me to switch to Linux.
I wasn’t upset to begin with. Was it not obvious that I was making a semantics joke? I mean, sure, the post I was replying to could be perceived as racist, since it was itself a reply to someone calling out racism, but it was clearly directed at wealth horders, not white people.
Exactly what I’ve been saying to anyone who’ll listen. All that money saved (plus all the money the rich are needlessly hording) could easily support all of humanity to do what we want with our lives while the robots do the grunt work.
My GPU is a GeForce RTX 2700S and my CPU is exactly the minimum spec, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600, and I’m able to play at a stable 30FPS with only occasional stutters when loading a new chunk in a big city. In my 50+ hours played, I haven’t once had performance negatively impact my experience.
Edit: With the latest game update, I now get 60FPS while exploring and 40-50FPS in cities.
Say it with me once again:
Fuck Nintendo.
They’re the Disney of the video game industry.
