i dislike how those of us who aren’t okay with this are just supposed to get on board because “big tent.” nazis operate by getting their foot in the door and acting respectable. then after a little bit, suddenly they’ve taken the whole place over. it’s what they do with bars, it’s what they do with music scenes, it’s what they’ve done with past open source projects, it’s what they did with the Reform Party in the united states. i need people to stop making room for nazis as long as they behave themselves

goddamn this entire thread is annoying:

• no they’re not just as bad as overt fascists. their hearts are in the right place, as demonstrated by this post
• being a scold when they do something good won’t get them to do more good, it will entrench them further into the things they do that are problematic

this is one of the examples of how electoralism can only ever give us some breathing room, but never our full liberation. even a “good” politician is still a politician. they may have entered government to reshape government, but eventually working in government will reshape them.

i encourage others to work to get the best possible politicians into positions of power, but to also work on coagulating people power in order to topple those same positions of power. here are some things you can do:

• organize a union
• learn first aid
• participate in mutual aid projects
• become acquainted with self defense and community defense mechanisms
• learn about reducing your digital footprint at protests

if you live in a common law tradition country like the United States, go read about Jury Nullification right now. and then shut the fuck up about it. if you are summoned for Jury Duty don’t bring it up unless directly asked about it.

am i? they implement draconian mass surveilance measures, reinforce racism, and tolerate a shocking degree of transphobia. when i look at the things the labour party has done in my life, i see a littany right-wing populist actions that undermine left-wing populist movements. if we use the definition of fascism that fascism is right-wing populism undercutting left-wing populism, i find it hard to see Labour as something other than the slick clean wide smiling acceptable version of Britain’s Ur-Fascism spearheaded by the Conservative and Union Party

It bugs me sometimes that Labour gets to claim it’s centre-left when it so consistently is fascist.
