THE FCC HAS AMD ALWAYS WILL BE IN THE POCKET OF THE MAJOR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS WHOSE MAIN GOAL IS TO BOTTLENECK EVERYONE INTO ONLY HAVING ACCESS TO THE INTERNET THROUGH ONE PROVIDER FOR AN AREA SO THEY CAN IMPLEMENT POLICIES LIKE BADWIDTH THROTTLING, CENSORSHIP AND ELIMINATING PIRATING CHANNELS. The only defense we have against losing net neutrality is by lowering their customer retention rates when customers jump to other companies. Which is only effective when there aren’t regulations limiting the number of competing providers.

There are plenty of reasons and justifications for saying fuck musk but this is not one that is worth the potential cost to your net neutrality.

It could just be karma whores expanding to other platforms than reddit. Idk if it’s still a thing but there was a time on reddit where people would steal posts, repost old top posts and aquire as much karma as they can on new accounts. Then sell the username to shills so they can push their agenda without looking like an obviously belligerent shill. They might try the same approach on lemmy before realizing karma doesn’t mean shit here which is where you see them deleting their accounts.

While possible I do think it’s a stretch, I also think it would be completely inefficient to try and train any LLM by feeding it data from lemmy. I wanna say the average number of active users on lemmy at any point is around 40,000. Compared to what google says reddit’s avg daily active users which is 52,200,000 users per day, it would seem like a complete waste of resources.

A 40 min walk isn’t a terribly long walk but if it’s after an 8 or 10 hr shift, then it’s not exactly an enjoyable stroll lol

Maybe it’s just a coincidence that because I switched to Lemmy almost 2 years ago I started seeing more IT related news and thats why im seeing so many more articles about Nintendo shutting down as much pirated material as they can. Or is it that they only recently started this crusade? If so, do you have any more information as to why they started making this a priority in the past couple years?

I mean the statement was heavily implied to be anecdotal to my experience but I’ll add to it by also saying I haven’t met a single person who runs an emulator console using anything but raspberry pi hardware.

There is prolly more/better articles out there but all the top search results today are referencing Trump’s estate tax hike that was announced in the past day or so.

How is retropie still able to operate? Seems like 9 out of 10 people who buy a raspberry pi are using it with retropie to play retro games. Seems like something that holds that much of the emulator industry share would be targeted by Nintendo.

Subsequently, if I know someone who knows someone who has a retropie for gaming, what’s the worst case scenario that could come from Nintendo shutting down retropie’s ability to provide the means to emulate? Will it be fine as long as the OS isn’t updated any further? Just run the emulators and roms already installed on it as long as no new emulators or roms are added after the possible crack down?

Thought that was just stat quo since call of duty or madden started pumping out annual games. I never checked but I assume I can’t boot up Madden 2011 and still find servers to play on.

It’s 5 one way trips. The article says the trucks run from Dallas to Houston which is about 250 miles according to google. It does mention that over 4 years it’s made 10,000 deliveries but I wasn’t sure if that meant as a company or with the self driving trucks but had a driver in the truck for the 10,000 deliveries. It only specifies that the 1,200 miles has been done without a person in the truck.

Glasses? How about on scopes? That would be fuckin revolutionary. The price of any decent night vision or thermal scope has come down but is still thousands of dollars. Olus in my experience every type of night vision scope has their own drawbacks. Infrared needs the mounted flashlight and so any obstruction that blocks the light is still dark. Thermal is great for scanning but disorientating enough if you are attempting to shoot a running or moving animal it tough to have the time to take quality shot. The other drawback of both is usually the weight of the scope or for infrared, the weight of the scope and light. A scope with night vision film or even a normal scope with night vision filmed glasses would be game changer.

How the fuck would this be more cost effective than them making their own chrome based browser and not be a demonstration of their over inflated operating costs and company valuation?

If you are paying for a service that is charging you enough to allow them to buy the most widly used browser from a company whose business model is to monopolize data, then maybe you’re paying them a titbit more than what the service they’re providing is worth.

My bad. Just switched from Sync app to Thunder app and was still learning its mechanics. The Thunder app wasn’t giving me any indication comments were being posted. The comment window would stay open and even when I backed out of it the comment thread wouldn’t show my comment until I backed out of the post comments and reopened them.
