It’s honestly hard to find a reason not to switch anymore. I switched myself recently and once I get more comfortable with it, I am putting Linux on my kid’s computer as well.

For now it just works. I have no complaints. I ran into just a few tiny snags and was able to resolve everything with a google search. It’s installed on my 10 year old desktop.
Demand better from the devs. And seeks out games that work on linux. There are plenty of them.
I installed Linux Mint a few days ago. It’s been great so far.
You are 100% correct. I meant to say blockchain.
Isn’t crypto a good use case here actually? No cental database.
There are way too many games out there for me to care anymore. Once i build my new PC, its Linux only. If it doesn’t run on Linux, I don’t need to play it.
I love mine for listening to audiobooks at home. I can pause them and have a conversation with my family without having to take them off.
There are so many good games out there, I can simply skip the ones that don’t run on Linux.
I’ll have to check it out. I would love to replace my fire stick. I am trying to get jellyfin setup.
Wait, hardware steam link? Please tell me more. Mine is collecting dust. Can I throw Kodi on it?
Why is a 5 year old device still the best bet? It’s frustrating that nothing better exists on the market.
It’s an open source project. It’s always going to be out there. I am gonna go fork the repo just for the hell of it right now.
I am not an expert but I think compatibility is the only significant downside. If your device supports it, you h265 will give you better quality at the same file size.
One thing I will also suggest is looking into https://home.tdarr.io/. It’s software that will re-encode your media to h265, saving you a lot of space. I just set it up on my synology NAS because I am at 80% storage and don’t feel like buying another drive yet.
This might eventually help us understand how to extend human lives.
Make Netflix more convenient than my ARR setup and I’ll happily come back.
Good to know. I need to see of there’s a way to do it on youtube shorts.
There are millions of youtube videos uploaded every single day. Why do I always get the exact same stuff in my recommendations? And why does YouTube shorts keep playing the same clips over and over again? Even the ones I disliked.
I don’t play anything multi-player so it’s not an issue. And I have to little time to play single player games I can simply ignore stuff that’s not compatible.
As far as VR, I am holding out hope that valve will make a Quest like VR headset.
