  • There was his crashout before Borderlands 2 where Gearbox accepted a boatload of Sega money to help finish Colonial Marines, and instead outsourced the project. Gearbox kept the money in spite of the failure, and allegedly used it as funding for Borderlands 2. (They were sued by Sega for keeping the cash, but later dropped the suit)

He also crashed out during the Borderlands 3 leadup.

Groped the Claptrap VA 6 years ago because he was tired of voicing Claptrap “as a favor” and when offered normal market rates wanted more because Claptrap is iconic. Pitchford cornered him at the hotel elevator, grabbed the VAs junk and said “youre gonna do what I tell you to” -allegedly.

Other than that, about the same time, he left a thumb drive at a Medieval Times that had company secrets and squirt porn on it. Same thumb drive. Brother apparently can’t afford 2 thumb drives to keep his porn separate from his company secrets.

Pitchford is the problem with Gearbox, but as a whole he’s a far cry from being Rockstar or Nestle, so it doesn’t cross people’s Ick threshold to trigger boycotts.

  • If this gets any visibility, I do have some familiarity with the weapon on board.

They call it a “pepper spray bomb” but more accurately pepper spray is generally not what your want because it sticks to walls. The “pepper” in the spray is an oil and imagine cleaning an oil off walls and stuff. If it gets into ventilation you will be breathing it for a week afterward.

No, what’s on board these is probably Pava Powder. Think Baby Powder, but s p i c y. Pava has many of the same reactions as pepper sprays, coughing, watery eyes etc. But it works better IN enclosed areas like hallways and enclosed spaces. Prisons love this stuff for incidents bigger than like 3-5 people. It can be packed into a paintball, and works in normal paintball guns (it also comes in a 40mm grenade featuring timed release!) Pava is much easier to clean, you just have to have good ventilation, as it will dissipate normally. It also doesnt trigger allergies like pepper spray can, and all it takes is a nice shower to wash yourself of it. Its really a great choice for the intended settings in which it is often deployed.

In a mobile form like drones, I can’t see the drone loading more than 10 balls due to weight, and if you’ve ever been paintballing you’d know 10 ain’t shit. A normal paintball hopper holds about 80, and for pava powder you need to score a fair number of hits or just paint a hallway with them to reach effective saturation. If each drone can hold 20-30 maybe it becomes feasible. It only takes a couple to actually do the work, but in a prison theres nowhere to run. You sit and take that accumulation. But school hallways can be 14 feet wide or more and a shooter has access to the entire building, so any misses simply…miss and begin saturating an area the shooter is leaving.

The alarm on the drone giving the shooters position away is a great touch.

Thats the fact side of things, opinion wise? Man we will do anything but fix the problems. These drones and pava are a great uh…answer for the locale, but it doesnt answer why you have a problem you need a prison grade solution. Pava dissipates into the air and its not that hard to begin to choke on your own breath. A deployment of these will give away the positions of students in adjacent rooms to the shooter. And you can fight it (you can fight pepper pray too), it’s just a matter of willpower to fight through choking air. It also guarantees a shooter will attempt to relocate in the building to outrun the pava clouds. Unless theres a way to quickly reload these drones in their ceiling mounts, the low ammo count is going to get them to fire around the halls, and will be more of a deterrent and could be effective at getting a shooter to stay away from populated rooms than actually subduing them and getting them to surrender. The alarm however i like at face value acting as a clear warning for where the shooter is at that moment. A drone following the shooter giving their position away is a fantastic solution if we aren’t going to address actual shootings.

7/10 nonlethal solution, with some side effects. I like the idea but the obvious workarounds like a mask, and causing entire rooms to start coughing and alerting the shooter to empty/full rooms, on top of the shooter wildly taking shots at the ceiling to kill an alarming drone causes a host of additional issues. For the pricetag the school could hire like 3 off-duty cops who do their job when a shooter arrives. So thats also a factor. We could also like…address mental health issues or access to firearms but this is America where we pray for evil things to stop rather than actually adressing it so, that wasn’t an answer anyway

  • I think someone once told me its about charge backs. People will pay up for hours and hours of content (more for addicts) and then issue a chargeback, or otherwise say their card was stolen (how dare you insinuate I’m into that fetish! Type shit) and because there is no physical product to seize, the company is left with repeatedly eating investigation costs into fraudulent porn addicts.

E: I’m not judging anyone’s porn content, idgaf what you smack or flick to. Merely an observation of people not realizing how much they will charge their CC until statement time, and freak out and then chargeback, making the company susceptible to puritanical influence because “those damn porn users” keep costing the company money.

  • Shit I dont know anyone who can afford this. No one in my work or friend group has a Steam Deck or Switch 2. Nearly 20 people all of us of us have ps5, XsX, or switch 1. 6 have a pc that can run the latest games without chugging. Not even the scalper guy at work has gotten a Switch2 to flip.

The market for Steam Deck is already so small, you would have to undercut it in price or overshoot it in specs by such a rediculous margin (either one) to get mass market adoption. Consoles were BORN FROM being cheaper and “punching above its pricetag” compared to modular PCs. This handheld is neither.

$1000 consoles and $100 games…here we come I guess. I’m so tired of fighting this fight. One of the tenants of capitalism is that you, the consumer, should demand more-for-less. It doesn’t matter that you got a good deal already. It is a consumers duty to demand a product for less, or even free. People have grown complacent and lazy with this duty - misinformation and complacency, and a culture that promotes both “fuck you I got mine” and “overpaying is a flex” has allowed prices to rocket under greedflation.

  • Kind of same, I remember making a login like dropping my bags in an empty apartment like “well this is home now” and my neighbors are trekkies and Linux, as a fan of windows and star wars. Wondering if I could hack it here. Just said fuck it we ball and started posting to try and decorate the place, hoping to be part of the Lemmy that made a difference and gets us noticed among the turmoil.

Seems like we didnt quite make it compared to BlueSky as a reddit/Twitter supplanted, but thats ok, I think in retrospect I’ve made a fair number of people happy to see my posts, and hope I have at least helped a couple of (mostly) meme communities get either noticed or traction. (Sorry jojokes, I just ran out guys, I didnt want to dig into low effort to keep posting, people deserve some standard of quality)

RiF still lives on my phone, hoping one day I can use it again.

Lots of games have poor matchmakers whether by malicious design or outright laziness. Over a decade ago Ubisoft specifically pattented a matchmaker learning tool that watches how long you play, how many matches you play, and how many losses you “put up with” without quitting, thereby deciding how often to sprinkle in steamroll wins. They swore it was “just to patent it and that no projects are planned to use this”, but when does the industry not lie through their teeth.

  • I’ve always seen 4chan as like a content generation white hole (made of poop ofc). From nothing, content spews forth and each tier of websites acts as a new filter as the content got safer or less dark as few and fewer memes got reposted. There used to be 4 tiers of how dark you liked your meme brew (4chan>reddit>twitter>Facebook)

Idk why I typed this up I should just hit the delete key this is outdated I have no idea how it works now. I’ve never used 4chan (or its doubling number clones) so it was always a mythical, forbidden place.

(Everything the light touches is our domain. What’s that shadowy place over there? 4chan where you must never go)
