France spends ~$15 million/mile for high speed commuter rail. Which means that line would cost $1.5 billion.
I don’t think it’s bringing in that many more people. Even when you amortize it across all of the little cities it would go through

These small towns would still be an hour+ away from large cities, even with European speed high speed rail.
Like for me, the nearest “big town” is about 100 miles from me, which is about a 2hr drive. And, at least from some quick googling, it looks like most commuter rail in France tops out at about 100mph. A train would not bring in more people haha
They aren’t fool proof, and relatively easy to detect from the source.
Source: high end AV tech for like half a decade
I disagree with the other person, rsync + ssh is faster even in my own benchmarks. But samba is plenty fast enough these days, I can easily have it max out my gigabit network so I don’t need anything faster. So for me (and I would guess the majority of people) speed really isn’t a concern anymore, so I use samba because it’s easy to use and it makes sharing network folders to anything else a breeze.
It’s like phones. Yeah technically the newest iPhone is faster than this years budget Samsung. But when’s the last time your phone was actually a bottleneck? (Unless you’re one of those people who play games, in which case, actually please respond cause I could use some really nice idle city builders for my phone pls)
I wanna know who refactored all of the fucks out of 4.18
I just wish they would fix bombers somehow. I wish I could fly my B-17 or B-29 and actually drop bombs.
All I want is high altitude carpet bombing, I know everyone else thinks it’s boring but it’s what I want 😭
All 5 of the dues ex games were good. And Ill die on that hill
Sure, if you narrow your view to literally only what is in front of you. But everyrhing has gotten cheaper, duller, less colorful, and just clearly designed for nothing but extracting capital.
Yes, you’re right, we shouldn’t be advertising that crap to children. But I would like to buy a car with an actual color painted on it, or have a house with actual character, or pay for services that actually work because at least someone behind the scenes actually cares. I feel like we’ve just lost all soul in society and it shows up in all sorts of places you wouldnt expect.
Places like how were all more lonely than anytime in history even though there’s more people than ever, or how people are so scared all the time even though we live in the safest time in the last 150 years, or how people seem to just be angry and have less patience in public any more.
McDonald’s is just an easy target because of how shocking their change has been, and how ubiquitous these changes have been.
And the crappy wood ones are so expensive! I was at Ikea and all of their dressers were like $250-$500 or more!
It’s almost like different people enjoy different things haha
Haha unfortunately the music on YouTube is not especially well managed. Ive been using YouTube for music for a long time so a lot of my music is uploaded by Vevo or “{Artist} - Topic” and stuff like that. Plus (IIRC) YouTube music doesn’t give things like what album a song is from or when it was released
They also have a bunch of integrations already built in! I use Cloudflare so all you gotta do is throw an API key into the config file and it does the rest. Which is nice cause DNS records can take some time to propagate
Yeah I am using yt-dlp to download the music, and I can set that on a cronjob no problem.
I am specifically asking for better downloading (I don’t want just the raw YouTube title most of the time), album art, and ID3 tagging. But that beets.io thing looks super cool! I might integrate that into my existing python scripting instead of trying to build it all out myself
It’s just a UI update, you know, like literally every other OS does periodically?
The story was really good, but the game just becomes an absolute grind fest towards the end. The survival parts of the game just completely fall apart and you have to spend so much time getting food, leveling up your armor, building defenses, and just doing the “tedious” parts of a survival game.
A buddy and I finally forced ourselves to finish our playthrough in March. I’m really glad we did because the story was genuinely good, the early survival parts were really good, and its really pretty. I just don’t think I could force myself through that again.
I am very excited for this one though.
Lmfao I can tell you’ve never worked in embedded systems before. They don’t really have config files. They don’t have the space.
Aren’t all planes cloud based though?
For the most part they are. You can find enormous troves of classified documents that have been made public, and a huge amount of once top secret technology and engineering eventually makes its way into the public space.
