  • Achievements or multiplayer matching not being implemented in the game itself isn’t on GOG. They still allow you to download and launch any game you’ve bought, without even requiring galaxy.

Also lesser known is the fact that there are DRM-free games on steam. Download them once, you can play without having steam running or even installed. Using a client to download isn’t inherently DRM either.

  • The second highest voted thing is mildly misleading because left parties are a lot more fractured, especially in EU elections. The afd could have 11% while 9 left wing partirs have 9.8% and be the most voted party, but that would be a better result than we have now with it being the second most voted.

The results are bad, but 16% is at least nowhere nesr a majority. I’m honestly more concerned about the CDU moving closer to the afd and still ending up with 30%, seems almost like many people don’t like the afd because they’ve been told afd bad, but still agree with much of their ideology.

  • You kind of can’t. Caloric intake from food varies by person, as does energy use. You can use a calculator for a ballpark measure and then see how it works out for your weight.

Type of food can also matter, because depending on your stomach bacteria, you will also get different energy value from different foods. I thought an easy way for me to lose weight would be to stop eating sweets (since i prob averaged around 500kcal nominal value per day), but nope I ended up gaining weight, probably from eating slightly more normal food. What I found works for me was delaying each meal for longer so I end up eating one large and one smaller meal per day. Going to bed slightly hungry then I usually wake up not hungry and it takes a few hours before I feel the need to eat something, etc.

I even once lost weight drinking about 2 liters of choccy milk per day but eating a lot less regular food, though I wouldn’t recommend that because that much sugar is terrible for you anyway. Far worse than being a bit overweight, probably.

If not hiring people based on their religion is allowed, that’s in itself religious discrimination. By that same logic indigeneous people in canada should have worse chances of being hired right now because they get extra days off. (And let’s face it that might even be happening, even if not officially).

Effectively it’d just mean that companies would prefer hiring atheists that don’t get extra days off.

  • Then you’re still treating people unequally based on however many holidays their religion has. Not to mention atheists. It shouldn’t go beyond “you get priority to get this specific day off over this other person for whom it’s not a special day”. And of course not allowing employers to deny vacation requests without a good reason, for some minimum number of days a year.

The main part of ping is the processing at the hops taking time, not the physical distance (for reference, with full speed of light you could get around the equator in around 150ms). I do recall there at least being a claim that starlink has reasonably good ping, it doesn’t seem impossible for it to be better than via fiber, even if shooters are probably still unplayable

The average income, according to a quick search, was $975. Comparing this to the current US median wage of $32k (and keep in mind the 1937 figure is arithmetic mean, the median was likely lower), incomes went up at a rate far beyond inflation as well. Not everything is affected equally. Though without living in the US and mostly guessing from prices here I’d guess many things on the list went up even more, like movie tickets.

The same search also suggested that the 1937 average wage was 25% lower than the 1932 one, so it seems 1937 was actually a pretty shit year.
