I mean, Telly is giving away TVs that have a camera and second screen to play ads. Sony might not think they could get away with it a decade ago, but consumers seem to slowly accept more bullshit over time so I could definitely see their calculus changing in the future.

Honestly I think it’s just a shit idea. Only way I could see it flying is if you heavily (or completely) subsidized the cost of the television. There’s already a company giving away free ad supported TVs.

25·1 month agoYeah I learned this lesson by starting with Smartthings and grew to hate the lack of reliability pretty quickly. Home Assistant and a raspberry pi has been significantly better.
They didn’t accidentally do shit. They ignored the consequences of their decisions for profit at the expense of everyone else. You don’t get to make $100 billion dollars and feign ignorance about how you got it and the damage you caused to obtain it.
I mean we see that with Sauron and Frodo in the films. It would appear that having the ring on your finger when severed does fuck all to help you out.

The writing feels so close to Shitty_Morph from Reddit I was prepping myself to hear about The Undertaker and Mankind about halfway through.
For example, if you have a Bluetooth xbox controller that’s acting up you can use the Microsoft Xbox controller app to sort it out really easily/intuitively.
Just did that this week to get a new controller set up with my Steamdeck, works great.

Agreed. This is one of those situations where I actually want to vote with my wallet if I can. They made a stellar game, it want them to make a shitload of money. That’s the only way we’re going to get another game of BG3 quality.
So what exactly are you disagreeing with? You just don’t like their word choice? They specifically stated this is the beginning, it’s happening slowly, and they feel they would be a target if we continue on the same trajectory. What’s incorrect/hyperbolic here?
Pretty much all of history dealing with fascism disagrees with you. That alone justifies the concern. I haven’t seen anyone say the world is a year or two away from unimaginable suffering or death. But there is a very clear path to unimaginable suffering or death in front of us. We’ve seen the path of fascism taken before. We know what happens. We have historical and academic research that backs it up that we can compare to today.
Saying (without any evidence) that people are overreacting sounds much more like a coping mechanism to me. People are saying “hey we should really check out this smoke billowing under the door” and you’re telling everyone they’re being silly because you can’t see any fire.
I think the solution is for all the non assholes to work together to stamp out the assholes and remove them from having power. Incredibly difficult, but not impossible. It’s the same class war that’s been waged by the wealthy for decades. Theyve never stopped attacking, we just suck at working together and have allowed them to gain waaaay too much ground.
They’re always going to be on the bus, but we can at least push them to the back where they can’t fuck with where we want to go.
