Lmao I love this take. Must be a skill issue. I don’t have a problem with the parry window or the difficulty parrying. It’s fine. The issue I have is that there is absolutely no strategy in the game so far besides, parry/dodge and counter attack. No skills matter at all, no proccing, no synergy, no need to even think about elemental weaknesses. Everything just comes down to whether or not you can parry/dodge.

Again, this may change as I’m only a few hours in but it is surprising (imo) in a game like this to see none of that matter really at all.

Im pretty early into the game so my opinion might change but I simply cannot believe how important dodging and parrying is to the outcome of pretty much any battle. I cannot survive any battle without dodging or parrying pretty much every single attack. Id say I get one-shot by like 75% of enemies I face and can survive at most 3 hits from everything else. I literally never have used Gustaves overcharge at full charge because I haven’t had a fight last long enough to fill it up. I either parry and counter attack to win. Or can’t time it right and die instantly. There’s virtually no in between so far.

Again, this might change later and maybe the difficulty is the problem (I’m trying it on expert) but I’m genuinely surprised at how vital it is to dodge and parry so far. Every fight just comes down to whether or not I can dodge every attack. Still liking the game and all but dang, kinda rough gameplay.

I enjoy assassin’s creed type games and I know this isn’t a hot take or anything but man are those games bloated with boring ass time waster side quests. Starts to feel like a job after a bit and I hate it. I really wish they would just focus on a solid core campaign story and leave the billion little errands on the cutting room floor. But I get that some people love just hunting stuff down and checking them off a list so idk. Just feels like they’re focusing more on maximizing the time you’re playing the game rather than just having fun playing it.

I work in this space. There’s a wide variety of reasons, a company being dumb and greedy is definitely among them but typically just a tiny part of the equation. The biggest thing is certified vendors. The military/government is incredibly strict with who they’ll contract with. Which means the supply is incredibly limited on many things, which in turn means that companies will ratchet up prices a crazy amount in part to deal with the goofy standards that the government requires on their goods but also because they know the demand far outweighs the supply.

There is also the burden of time. The US government drags their feet an INSANE amount on projects. It scales with size as well. The larger the project the slower things move almost every time. It very frequently gets to a point where they need stuff done right now because they waited too long and will pay pretty much any price to do it.

There is also the fact that the military is operating with a budget chalk full of “fuck you money.” In short, money is immaterial. Half the time they don’t even look at the price, whatever it costs doesn’t matter, just get it done and get it done right.

My company marks up shit an insane amount and I know for a fact pretty much every other certified vendor is as well. I dunno about 8k% (lol) markup but honestly that doesn’t shock me. The prices I’ve seen are jaw dropping. And they pretty much never get negotiated or rejected.

I have personally done a blind taste test just for fun with several different types of fish that my family caught and the two of us that were doing it both couldn’t tell for shit what was frozen and what wasn’t. Anecdotal for sure but I thought for sure I’d be able to tell easily.
