If you don’t have enough technical skill level and experience to install a game via steam, gog, or (bleh) epic games, you don’t have enough technical expertise to do the same on any console, including ones that require you to just put a cartridge in. Pressing “install” button and waiting for a while to then press “play” button might be less complicated than figuring out which side disk goes. And that’s exactly what is required to play a computer game.
It is not like-for-like experience, because a general purpose computer allows you to do a bit more than playing a game, but in terms of actually doing it, let’s not pretend it’s some kind of rocket surgery.

Proton consistently shows better performance results than running the same game natively on Windows. Despite having a bunch of experience, Microsoft consistently shows that there is always a way to make a thing worse.
Consoles were just weird very restricted PCs for decades now, it’s nothing new really. If anything, making it more open will be better, there is no other need to keep it restricted other than making it unupgradable so you have to pay for a new one every generation.
In other ways, good, now do the same with PS.

4·2 days agoYou don’t even have to “break” llm into anything. It continues your prompts, making sentences as close to something people will mistake for language as possible. If you give it paranoid request, it will continue with the same language.
The only thing that training gave it is the ability to create sequences of words that resemble sentences.

61·12 days agoBy now it’s kind of getting clear that fundamentally it’s the best version of the thing that we get. This is a primetime.
For some time, there was a legit question of “if we give it enough data, will there be a qualitative jump”, and as far as we can see right now, we’re way past this jump. Predictive algorithm can form grammatically correct sentences that are related to the context. That’s it, that’s the jump.
Now a bunch of salespeople are trying to convince us that if there was one jump, there necessarily will be others, while there is no real indication of that.

11·20 days agoIt’s deeply weird to me that you assumed I stan Clinton when I just point out this deeply funny statistic. The fact that you assumed I stan her might say something about your motivation and ideas than you care to admit.
It even prevented you from understanding why I brought up this and what it means for the “everything is rigged, nothing we do matters, better not to do anything” side of this argument.
At some point, when you’re combing through archives looking for the exact version of a closed forum post that contains exact info you have, you understand that this system also sucks.

213·20 days agoYou’re not getting a progressive because you aren’t trying. You can’t get enough people to win a popular vote once. DNC doesn’t even need to rig anything, the only people who actually do political activism are those “establishment democrats”.
Progressives either don’t do shit other than bitching on twitter, or there are so little of them so their effort is in vain. I don’t know what is worse. You can say what you want how primaries are “rigged” because delegates don’t do what you personally don’t want them to do, but fact of the matter is, Bernie also lost the popular vote quite definitively.
In the history of DNC, there was only one time when delegates didn’t chose the same candidate as the people, and that was when Obama lost the popular vote to Clinton by almost 1%.

I mean, they absolutely did at the time. They atoned for their transgression and redeemed themselves several times over though.

Nvidia is doing a lot of that. It’s slightly better than nothing. It also quite expensive unless you’re Nvidia.
