  • I’m a woman in STEM. I only went to a CC, so maybe there’s a difference there, but I didn’t experience much sexism in my time there.

I have experienced it at work, but usually from the younger, unsocialized men. Is it a problem? Sure, but I’ll take that over my bosses being sexist.

Also, along with the sexism does come some privilege. When I do something wrong, I tend to get taken easier on when it comes to punishment. I also am able to form… different (non-sexial) bonds with the higher ups. These dynamics are much different to any bonds I had with female bosses from my previous field of work, and they’re different than the bonds the higher ups have with my male counterparts. I can say that I don’t worry about being laid off or fired.

However, I’m also fairly certain that I have a sharp awareness of these bonds and how to manipulate them to get what I want.

Not trying to poo-poo any sexism claims, just that there’s also certainly a privilege to be had being a woman minority in a male-dominated field.

  • Iceland is very small. It takes about 25 hours to drive around the entire circumference of the country. That, coupled with there being a very small population in general, any train would be empty most of its running hours.

Reykjavik, Iceland biggest city, is super easy to walk. The entire thing. It takes almost no time. You don’t need a train if you can get everywhere by foot.

We rented a car while there and experienced zero traffic.

The point is the effort. Dating takes effort. If you can’t even make the effort to ensure you get a nice pic or two of yourself, how much effort are you going to put into a relationship?

There are very easy ways to take pics of yourself without it being a selfie nowadays. Phone tripods with Bluetooth remotes exsist for $25 off Amazon.

“We just don’t have pics of ourselves.” …so take some, instead I of just rolling over and saying “oh well.”

The people who are actually angry tend to be FOSS advocates. I think they were assuming Sync would have a FOSS type option for users, and were surprised that wasn’t the case.

The rest of us just think it’s funny.

    I’m a sync user, btw

It 100% does not even come close. Not saying those deaths weren’t terrible or unavoidable, absolutely not.

But also, you can’t blame a capitolistic society for trail of tears or any other mass genocide that came before that. We didn’t become capitolistic until 10 years after Trail of Tears ended.

Edit to add: granted, that doesn’t say much about how Native Americans were treated post TOT. Though, it’s certainly through capitalism that Indian casinos have become so successful. 245 tribes own casinos today, all of which rake in the funds.

Yes, I don’t disagree, except far more people benefit from our form of capitalism, and you don’t see the death numbers you do from the absolute rule that communism demands.

This isn’t to say there isn’t any death due to capitalism. Or any strife, just certainly not on the same scale. I would say out biggest death toll comes at the hands of our military-industrial-complex being capitolistic.

The problem is, there’s nothing better yet.
