I’ve never posted on Lemmy before. I tried to ask this question of the greater community but I had to pick a community and didn’t know which one. This shows up as lemmy.world but that wasn’t an option.

Anyway, what I wanted to know is why do people self host? What is the advantage/cost. Sorry if I’m hijacking. Maybe someone could just post a link or something.

I saw this on Lenny about Jeeps. I asked someone sitting in a new Jeep if she got ads when she came to a stop and she said no. So now I wonder if there is something about the trim level or something. She said it was 1 year old. Maybe this just started.

My cars are all over 20 years old. I won’t have to worry about that for a while. Well,I do have a 2020 vehicle but it’s temporary.

Wish we could do that. But now that I think about it, it’s much better to improve things in small steps that can be monetized with ever increasing prices for each step. Yeah, that’s definitely the better way to do it.

But it’s not like the Chinese government to provide that kind of service out of kindness.

People always act like “how can company A be a thing when it isn’t profitable”. It isn’t about if company A is profitable. It’s about whether CEO A is making money. As long as that can happen and, you know, others at the top, company A is right on track.

I assumed this was crap. I mean they had antivaxers for the flu in what was it, 1927? Plus they can’t even keep lights red now. How did they do it before computers were invented.

I don’t doubt the vaccine was well received but this sounds a bit over the top.
