I have never heard of anyone using aliases for anything but trivial one-liners. I don’t think people consider them as an alternative to scripts so I don’t really get the point of half of this post.

That’s good. You can also check out btrbk - it’s a tool which can take snapshots for you, like Timeshift, but also back them up to somewhere.

Absolutely, my backup solution is actually based on BTRFS snapshots. I use btrbk (already mentioned in another reply) to take the snapshots and copy them to another drive. Then a nightly restic job backs up the latest snapshot to B2.

Just a friendly reminder that BTRFS snapshots are not backups.

WTF kind of drugs your dentist’s give you? When I had my wisdom teeth removed I just got local anesthesia which made my mouth area numb and insensitive to pain for a few hours. I could literally drive home immediately after the procedure if I wanted to. Europe, for reference. Does this differ between the countries so much?

It’s funny because where I live there were even warnings to never give your card to the cashier back when they weren’t so popular. It was precisely because of some rare cases of cashiers managing to clone or charge the card during that moment. I, and most people I know, wouldn’t just hand in their card if asked. It just doesn’t happen here.

If you have to learn from scratch anyway I would consider caddy and traefik. I think those might be a bit more modern and user-friendly than nginx.
