They were throwing money around to get more market share. Like back in the days were steam had 1 euro sales on AAA games. Same with Epic’s weekly free games. Those used to be big titles, now it’s mostly indies.

34·5 months agoRevolution is one way to change a society. It’s the one that gets all the attention because it makes a big splash. It’s also less stable and often more violent than slow change. Sometimes it is indeed the only way, when incremental change is repressed. But it is glorified and should not be the first option.

53·5 months agoI think what the world needs is people that constantly and consistently do small good deeds. Strongly acting on the currently trending topic causes pushback from the other side and ends in polarization. There are a few exceptions of course, natural disasters for example are very time sensitive.

About the Signal protocol: It’s end-to-end encrypted. It would not allow for the server to give you a customized feed. Also messages expire but I’m not sure if that’s to the protocol.
No I do not have good data. But neither does OP.
- There is no international standard on what should be counted as suicide
- Even if there was, reporting quality would be very different between cultures and rural vs urban environments
- I think statistics coming fron authoritarian regimes are not trustworthy (I’ll leave it as an exercise to the reader to categorize which states are authoritarian)
