This is the second reference to elbows I’ve seen related to this topic, and I really don’t understand. Would you mind providing context?

38·8 months agoHonestly that caught me too.
I’d have to guess his family suspected/knew he was a piece of shit and wanted proof. Maybe he was also abusive? I don’t imagine someone like that would be like… super kind otherwise, you know?
Lactose intolerance is rough.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Thinking of switching to Surf Fiber internet from the Comcast Xfinity Cable I currently have - any suggestions?English
6·9 months agoI don’t know this company but fiber came into my area (central WI) a few years ago and I couldn’t be happier.
Prior to that the infrastructure I was on for cable internet was old and would have frequent problems.
The brand new infrastructure is figuratively worth its weight in gold, imho, even if the company itself is just as crap and your price ends up the same.
Even better, the fiber cables run underground, so other than having them severed when digging, they won’t go out unless there is a major widespread outage. No random branch taking out your service in a wind storm or whatever nonsense.

41·9 months agoI don’t see how that refutes what I said about why people don’t want to pay for it…?

Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026English
111·9 months agoNobody wants to pay for all the little individual piecemeal services and shit, because it’s wildly expensive and inconvenient, and because they keep adding ads to the paid stuff anyway because greed, so what benefit is there to paying?
Is I/O in this context input/output? I’ve seen it used this way before but I’m not super techie so no clue.

1·10 months agoOut of those I’ve devoted a ton of time to rimworld and oxygen not included, are any of the others on your list similar, or others you’d recommend for someone who likes them? I tried dwarf fortress but I found it to be… not my bag. I didn’t get very far into it tho.
(I do like mods, so that’s an ok requirement)
I’ve been doing these for years… they don’t work as intended for more than a year or two, and then become pretty unstable. Even the lady who created it went back to low-maintenance (as opposed to zero input) systems after a few years. Still with the dirt and all but not without water movement and stuff.

1·10 months agoI had a similar problem with ocarina of time (and lemme tell you having to run around in not one but multiple times was a… blast…)
It was the first Gannon fight where you shoot the paintings… I’d never played a Zelda game before and it took me ages to give up and look it up (thankfully this was after the internet was born, and walkthrough sites were all over)

I love this. I’d watch a movie of exactly this.

Technology@lemmy.world•China's latest flying car prototype showcases a breakthrough in urban air mobility, offering a glimpse into how low-altitude flight could soon integrate with everyday transport.English
3·10 months agoI would hope that by the time something like this launched to the general public, it would be a service rather than an expected purchase. Like self-driving-flying taxis.
It doesn’t make sense to have everyone owning their own when they will probably be largely autonomous to avoid issues with individuals driving them (not that everyone owning a car makes sense either, but I digress), so the maintenance shouldn’t be an issue either.
Easily the rest of your life!
Blindsight is awesome. I was so pumped he made his works freely available.
Have you read the rifters trilogy? It has a mildly odd voice, imho, but overall a great series.

But as a brain cleanse, try little Emma. It’s not amazing, but it’s cute as hell. Itty bitty humans smaller than sentient racist livestock.

4·11 months agoI felt that way about blitzball in final fantasy 10 (I think). Never finished the actual game.

Weirdly, this post made me realize that not a single one of my siblings or cousins has reproduced, and that’s 7 on one side and 12 or so on the other, plus 3 for myself and siblings. And we are mostly mid 30s to early 50s.
