3·4 months agoComparing to the dotcom bubble is what finally made it make sense in my brain. Though I know the toll it took on that sector’s workers and I don’t envy those in fields that are going to be affected the same way.

4·9 months agoFunny enough, I just finished playing through Paper Mario 64, and you’ve basically described Peach’s chapters. She’s able to pass on messages by way of using another character as a messenger.
The way the game is structured is there’s a mini Peach chapter in between each main chapter, but I think it would have been intriguing if you never actually got to see Mario’s side of the story and only heard about his adventures from the guards, diary entries, etc. Cool idea for a puzzle game!

36·9 months agoSo there’s that, but also the position of “special counsel” or whatever dumb title he holds is time limited. You can’t be an unelected government official indefinitely (although I’m sure the current administration would change the rules if they cared enough to keep him). He’s making it sound like he’s bowing out, when it was the plan to step down in May from the beginning.

116·10 months agoI don’t know if it’s the circles I’m around or what, but this is not my experience at all. As someone with a nonverbal autistic loved one who was bullied with this slur, I disagree with the idea that it doesn’t cause harm to continue to use it. If someone uses it I ask that they don’t use it around me and that’s been respected. Language evolves over time, and we need to evolve away from using what was relatively recently a medical diagnosis as an insult.

Both sides are allowed to suck, here. I get what you’re saying- everyone seems to have made decisions without allowing the child, who would be incapable of making such life altering decisions, to have any kind of agency. Being concerned for his welfare is empathetic.
The other posters are concerned that the CCP has a terrible human rights record, and are notorious for being untruthful. Out of the frying pan, into the fire.
