If a real lawyer were to fuck you over, you could report them to the bar association and have their license taken away. Could even sue them for losses. Will you be able to come for an AIs license? Can you get restitution from the AI company for things the AI did?

We’ve already seen AIs toast entire production environments. If a human did that, they’d be fired at the least. If an investigation found it was done intentionally, a human could potentially be sued for losses of revenue. Nothing has happened to the AIs that have done this. There is no recourse. I can think of no worse industry for a lack of accountability than law.

No one has money. I knew things were truly fucked before Christmas when I was talking to a guy, standing in his living room that is larger than my entire fucking house, and he was hemming and hawing about replacing his furnace blower motor that was actively leaking oil. I felt scummy having to point out that it is an actual fire hazard. He pushed the repair off to the new year so he could get some money together. Another guy had to call his sister to pay me for his dispatch fee, and then said he’d buy an inducer motor at Home Depot because my quote for the warranty repair was too high. I wish him the best of luck.

It has not gotten better. I fear for my job on a weekly basis. I had to switch to a new company due to moving states for my wife’s job, and I am having a hell of a time proving I can bring value when people are barely able to afford capacitors at discounted rates. I had one guy whose unit won’t even start just say they’ll just not have AC.

The problem is that Tesla has become a self fulfilling prophecy. Not in any ability to actually make the products they advertise, but in making investors money. So many people have invested so much that the stock price now effectively describes investor’s aspirations for money, not their faith in Tesla. This has been true for some time. The value of the stock has been largely divorced from the reality of production targets, new products, or even the endless controversies.

The drama is that this is an entirely unnecessary step that adds extra work for the technician/owner that wants to change rear brake pads/rotors, which are a wear item.

I’ve been doing brakes on mine and my family’s cars for over a decade. It’s dramatically cheaper to buy pads and rotors and swap them myself, and if I do it myself I know that it was done right and there’s antiseize everywhere it should be. So now in addition to all the work of jacking the car up, removing tires, removing the calipers, depressing the caliper, cleaning the hub, coating the hub with antiseize, cleaning the guide pins, reinstalling and torquing everything to spec, I now have to get a battery/transformer/charger and wire into a sensor to tell the stupid fucking computer that the pads and rotors are new. Why can’t the computer use a position sensor to just detect that there’s now thicker material there? Why isn’t there just an option in the maintenance settings that you can press to say that you’ve done the work and to reset the maintenance interval? Fuck this shit, doing brakes is already a time sink if you live in the rust belt, and this system adds nothing but an extra cost or extra work to the person performing the work. There’s no safety gain from it existing, it’s fucking stupid.

I’m curious because I’ve been on Linux full-time for 2 years now and an avid user for years before, but my friend is thinking of switching and I want to know what he might need help with.

It’s very strange.

Most games will just launch, no problems. But then you’ll get one title like the above poster has, that just refuses to launch no matter what you do.

Most of the times there’s a work around on ProtonDB that will get you running in a few minutes. But sometimes it feels like, or is the case, where the developers actively prevent the game from launching on Linux.

The thing with IQ or any cognitive test, is they’re only administered when there’s a call for one.

If trump was behaving like a normal man his age, then there wouldn’t likely be a cognitive test. Just like how most people who get an IQ test are only tested if they’re either exceptionally advanced or exceptionally behind in their learning.
