I never understood softcore porn. They go to all the trouble of setting up emotional amd sexual tension just to waste it on a hammy holywood makeout scene where all you see is boobs and bush.

That’s intentional. They don’t really want anyone to fix their cars because they see it as bad for their bottom line. The best outcome for the car manufacturers is to make a car that is completely irreparable, forcing even a minor failure to require full replacement. The problem, as always, is capitalism.

4·3 months agoHonestly I think engineers of all kinds can benefit from more study of biological systems. As an engineer myself, I find there’s a lot of inspiration to be gained by looking at life and understanding how it works. My primary work is controls and learning that biological muscle operates as bang bang control was mindblowing. Like look at the agility and complexity achieved by essentially a fuck load of on off actuators. It shows how far you can go with extremely simple methods and honestly helped me chill the fuck out about making everything perfect.

81·4 months agoMight I suggest the problem is capitalism. Without the everpresent threat of homelessness and starvation forced on us by the landlords, rampant price gouging of necessary goods like food, and the anti-lottery we all play every single fucking day with our own health, artists wouldn’t need nearly so much compensation for their work. Piracy wouldn’t matter, or even be required as a concept. I dream of living in a world without capitalism, but we don’t. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

1·5 months agoHentai has a story though. The characters have experiences and respond to them. There is a continuity to it. It wouldn’t be nearly as popular if it was just random variations on a theme for every image. That’s super fucking boring. It’s not about how real or true the images are, it’s about how good the story is at making us feel horny. AI gen slop can’t even tell a coherent story at all.

1·5 months agoYeah. I ran into some ai generated porn a while ago without realizing it immediately and initially it was certainly very hot. Once i realized what it was my interest died completely and I realized the flaw with ai gen porn is the complete lack of narrative continuity, especially in the meta sense. You will only ever get the first thing you see and maybe some similar looking derivatives. You’ll never get it to make a true story exploring ideas and boundaries, or even just being able to make the same character consistently, let alone in different circumstances or within a larger meta context. It’s the most soulless art possible. It says nothing and it means nothing, and people are going to realize they care about those things when the novelty wears off.
Try and stop me. I don’t even have windows installed anymore.

5·6 months agoYeah I agree this seems more like tech debt and possibly a shitty architecture to me, both problems that ultimately come from poor management. The codebase I’m responsible for at work was developed in a mad rush, and the levels of pointless coupling and interdependence sometimes makes it hard to change anything without spending forever tracking down all the stupid little places that piece was touching. That shit comes from management pushing you to just do the thing already and move on, which works for a while until things get so messy you have to slow down or spend some time on a refactor. Someone could easily have made a technical decision for the sake of expedience, which was then built upon and became interconnected with other things in a way that made changing it require a major change, which of course no manager will support, so the work gets broken up into 100 tiny stupid tickets trying to move toward adding the new feature without ever making a breaking change, slowing down the whole thing even more.

Using hot air instead of helium would not work. The density of hot air is much higher than helium, so you would need a significantly larger airship to lift the same mass of payload (the useful bits). That and keeping the air hot would require constant energy input reducing the efficiency of the system dramatically. I’m pretty sure that system would be literally impossible to construct.
