To mitigate the risks you could put the local server into its own network where it cannot reach anything else in your home.

Linux@lemmy.ml•debian 13.5, kernel Linux 6.12.90+deb13.1-amd64 and Dirty Frag (CVE-2026-43284, CVE-2026-43500). Do I need to patch?
5·15 days agoDebian is pretty good at ensuring security fixes are applied to their software. Even if the specific version of a program (or the kernel) is old they make sure to include security fixes of newer versions.
So like the other comment said just upgrading like normal should be enough.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Booting to Steam Big Picture under certain conditions
1·1 month agoYou can force steam to start in big picture mode with the
-gamepaduiargument. And you can always switch between desktop and big picture mode, at least when you have a normal window manager running.Booting into big picture mode would entail launching gamescope and launching Steam inside that.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Booting to Steam Big Picture under certain conditions
2·1 month agoAs a workaround, if you have a Steam Controller pressing the Steam button should bring up Steam and pressing it again should switch to Big Picture Mode. That’s at least how it works on my Steam Deck in desktop mode.
If you have an Xbox or PlayStation controller you could try if their corresponding buttons work the same.

Linux@lemmy.ml•For those running Linux with Window Managers (or Desktop Environments too), how do you make sure that on lid close: the laptop suspends and locks?
25·1 month agoIn KDE it’s just a simple configuration in the power section of the settings. No idea what the general Linux way would be.

1·2 months agoThey are incredibly useful, especially with PC games that require lots of inputs. You can create menus for the track pads. Great for weapon or item selections or various shortcuts in simulation games.
And a simpler thing I did with them on the Steam Deck was to put mouse input on both so that I could play point and click adventures one-handed with either hand.

Games@lemmy.world•Steam Controller (2026) - PCGamer ReviewEnglish
1·2 months agoI hope that the Frame controllers will be sold separately. Of course they don’t have trackpads either.
It’s a shame that split controllers haven’t caught on. Gaming is so much more relaxed when you aren’t forced to have your hands together. I loved that since the Wii. But I haven’t seen a split controller that I really like.

1·2 months agoJust add the GOG games to Steam. When you give them the same names as in Steam you can even use community layouts. That way even games that aren’t on Steam have community layouts.

Games@lemmy.world•Steam Controller (2026) - PCGamer ReviewEnglish
2·2 months agoSupposedly the new Steam Controller will work similar to the Steam Deck. By default it acts as mouse + keyboard. On Linux the Steam Deck Controller can act as a gamepad when holding down the start button. Hopefully the new Controller uses the same driver.
But so far there is no Windows driver so they are stuck in keyboard+mouse mode.

14·2 months agoSo the Empress has fallen?
Funnily enough it’s often used in the pirate scene to distribute games. But only as archives.

If I know anything about stories then she will probably get the opportunity to come back to life by the end or at least converse with the living world. That could set up the next game with all of them together in some way. Maybe with the grown up Boy as the main character.
