I do civil engineering work, mostly related to soils etc. I have a computer for work but that’s about as far as it gets for me professionally.

Engineer here, but my technical expertise is about as far away from computing and technology as you can get and still be an engineer.
I was a kid in the 90s and the first album I bought was Metallica’s black album. I spent over $18 in like 1999 so with inflation that’s like $300 or something now. Then the drummer of what was then my favorite band says hey, if you’re downloading our music on Napster, then we don’t want you as a fan. That hit teenage me pretty hard and basically radicalized me to find “alternative methods” for every piece of digital media I could, if that’s how the people I looked up to were going to treat me for not having as much money as them. Everything I host now started at that inflection point, from picking up Linux as a hobby to learning about networking and security. Turned out to be a pretty good path to follow though seeing how Microsoft, Netflix, Spotify et. al. turned out in the end.
I still download and share all of Metallica’s discography out of spite, but haven’t listened to them since.

Cool, can’t wait for nothing to happen afterwards

Make matrix as easy to use and understand and make sure all their friends are there first
They greet us as liberators

New Hampshire is a joke. They’re the only state in New England without recreational cannabis and their license plates say “Live Free or Die”. They also have the second highest property taxes in the country. Their libertarian enclaves get overrun by bears because they’ve cut town budgets so much there’s no money for garbage collection. Nothing they do there is surprising.

Is “remain ‘impartial’ to political agendas” a dogwhistle for “tolerates Nazis” or have I just become too cynical

FYI the Superbowl is a great time to go to the grocery store. I mark it on my calendar so I don’t forget

Tell that to the squirrels that used to be in my backyard

Not OP but I bought a 45" LG UltraGear gaming “monitor” a while back that’s basically just a TV, no smart anything etc. Right now the only ones I see after a quick search are curved though, mine is flat.

Without a way of knowing which satellite passing overhead was the ISS, in the narrow windows each day where you could see them well enough to correctly point a Yagi at one, you’d quickly run out of battery before making a relevant contact. Also the people on the ISS rarely listen or respond, the most used ham equipment on the ISS is basically a glorified repeater so you’d also have to get above the pileup of all the satellite chasers just trying to log contacts.

JS8Call and FT8 are digital modes that don’t require talking. Plenty of other things to do as well
High speed rail… mmmmm…
