If your definition is different that mine, isn’t it easier telling us what your opinion is so we can actually confront, instead of using a 4th grade version of the Socratic Method?

A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism

America is literally a fascist state rn
Yeah I have zero experience with atomic distros so I don’t feel like suggesting those, but I have seen good comments in this thread about those as well
Since tech illiterate people don’t really care what’s under the hood as long as it works, I would choose anything with Cinnamon desktop: Gnome is a little alien for newcomers, KDE and XFCE are far too easy to screw up if you don’t know what you’re doing.
If Mint doesn’t work well with you I would suggest either LMDE, stock Debian or the Fedora Cinnamon spin (in this order of priority)
When the host dies, the parasite has already reproduced and attacked other hosts.
You have to eradicate it before it spreads

4·4 months agoAs a concept it’s something I find really cool but as of now I think something like PeerTube is better if you have to self host and easier to be moderated by a community
- Awesome Tiles because I find it simpler than other tiling managers
- Caffeine to keep my laptop awake when I need it
- Clipboard Indicator for easy clipboard history access
For anything else I’m fine with Gnome’s basic workflow
Debian-head here, daily driving it for the last 5 years. I distrohopped a lot before but Debian made me stay, mainly because of its stability and the fact that it’s community driven.
It’s getting harder everyday making your needs fit your ethics, but this is one of the few cases and it makes me feel good with my choices.

Since less techy people tend to use more the mouse/touchpad anyways, I would pick a hard-to-mess-with desktop environment like Cinnamon or Gnome. With KDE, XFCE and such you can screw panels really easily if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Slap Debian under it and there you go

Linux@lemmy.ml•I just distro hopped after using a distro almost a year. Is it normal?
7·10 months agoI distro-hopped so many times I got so sick of change that I’ve stuck with Debian for 4 years, the longest ever. It’s a peaceful life.

Revenge also had the best soundtrack IMHO
