Afaik they’re still using awful third-party servers, lag compensation is still aggressive as fuck, they tried to “fix” visibility by slapping a bandaid in the form of healthbars, and the anticheat thing was another bandaid instead of a surgery. Overall it’s kinda stuck, all of the old issues are still there.

They have a shitload of new cosmetics though, if that’s your jam. Funnily enough, they were so greedy even esport orgs didn’t want to keep working with them. Rspn offered a one-time payment, orgs wanted a percentage of sales. Mind you, it’s a fairly big esport that advertises the game for them (btw played on better servers than available in-game).

From what I’ve seen it has a lil sidebar that lets you limit the resources available to it. Also a load of shortcuts to giveaways and storefronts. It’s also hideous, as all gamer stuff should be.

Compared to some older AA tech. TAA is awful in motion in games. edit: by default. if there’s a config file it can be made better edit2: sometimes no AA is clean as fuck, depends on the game and resolution

I mean internal resolution. Playing at 1080p with DLSS means the game doesn’t render at your specified resolution, but a fraction of it. Native (for now) is the best looking.

Yeah, that’s a problem. More people should be aware of the graphical effects in games. Thankfully some games now implement previews for damn near every quality toggle.

DLSS is one of those things where I’m not even sure what people are complaining about when they complain about it.

Mostly performance, from what I’ve seen. That hardware requirements go up, while the real (edit: internal) resolution goes down, meanwhile the image quality is stagnant. It’s not completely the DLSS’s fault though.

I think temporal antialiasing never looks good. I don’t really care to talk about dlss though, I just shut up and avoid upscaling (unless it’s forced grrrr).

They really aren’t. With thicker pillars (for better safety, but also sometimes for design purposes) the more cameras you have - the better.

You can still buy incredibly simple cars, just look at PSA, Dacia/Renault basic models or Fiats that have been in production for years. Hell, Mitsubishi ASX turns 15 and all they did was stick a big screen for a radio. Suzuki S-cross imo is the sweet spot, a small screen for 2 functions (radio/phone audio, camera) and physical controls for the rest.

Or just don’t buy new cars. I think you’d like VW Up, big selling point of it was the lack of a navigation system because they get outdated so quickly, so instead there’s just a nav holder.

Oh, there have been attempts. Joystick controls, for example, in Mercedes concepts (F 200, SL R129 Concept, Vario Research car), or in actual farming vehicles. Recently, several automakers tried yokes. For now wheel is the cheapest (and simplest) way to make a car steer, we’ll see some funky shapes probably.

edit: also if steer-by-wire takes off, I imagine physical steering linkage would still be required. In that case it wouldn’t save money.

From what I understand their minimum wages aren’t bad, it’s the enforcement that sucks. Everyone buys from them because labor laws are overlooked, but if they weren’t - there’s a risk manufacturing would move away and shrink. Bit of an ouroboros. I’d say both parties are to blame, but the paying one gets more of it.
