They won’t, they’re addicted (I say this as a sporadic TT user). Look at how shit FB has gotten, yet people still hang around. Tiktok’s algo is 100x more addictive.
The only positive for TT for me personally was that the bot problem wasn’t as bad on it compared to other social media. I bet that will change pretty quickly.

As someone who didn’t like Max Payne as much as other others, I’m loving this new era of Remedy.
That being said, I’m waiting for them to integrate it into the AlanWakeControlQuantiumBreakiverse (or whatever we’re calling it) somehow through the remakes.

MY BOY’S BACK WITH A NEW ASHLEY LETS GOOOOOO

Honestly, I’m really happy when I see a different artstyle from the “UE5 3rd person view and everyone’s covered in vaseline” 90% of games now have. I will be checking this out.

I’m so hype for this! Returnal was one of my favourite pandemic era games I played, and really helped me get back into gaming as a hobby. Very excited to see what Housemarque have cooked up.

Casey Hudson was the original project lead of Kotor 1 and the entire first Mass Effect trilogy. I think that’s why a lot of people are hopeful about the direction of this new game.

I’m curious too. Original Sin/OS2 are really tight turn based strategy games (with D:OS2 being the best game Larian has ever made IMO (sorry BG3 fans)), but Divinity II was an ARPG, and I would not mind seeing a Larian with actual resources trying their hand at it again.

I know Lara has never been flat. But I honestly wouldn’t put it past the “Feminine characters are sexist and wrong” modern gaming land scape to fuck that up
This has not been a trend in gaming for years, if ever. This was just Twitter outrage you fell for. Stellar Blade was literally topping the Steam charts a few months ago.

Thank you Remedy for not Epic-jailing this like with Alan Wake 2! That game is such a masterpiece that more people need to play 😭

I think Legacy of Atlantis is actually a remake of the first Tomb Raider, so I think Crystal Dynamics wanted to be like “Don’t worry guys, you’re also getting a new one” at the same time.

You may be right. Disney sent a cease and desist to Google right before this “partnership” with OpenAI was announced. Seems like Disney wants to integrate and control AI using their IP on their own terms.

It’s dudes in the Philippines this time, actually.
Montreal’s getting droned first, you think they’ll let the socialists have any part of the St. Lawrence?

Librewolf is my stopgap atm. We’ll see that the future holds.

Yeah, this I believe. I saw the news that they sold one of their studios back to the original owners while still publishing the game they were developing. I must have missed the news about them downsizing their in-house stuff.
I looked up what studios they would be acquiring under the WB merger and uh…outside of the new Mortal Kombat, Hogwarts Legacy, and the DC games…I don’t really know if they’re going to make a big dent in the gaming sphere immediately. A lot of these already look pretty mismanaged, maybe it could get worse, but it could also get better.
But if we’re worried about moving towards even more subscription-based cloud gaming…yeah…looking at the state of gaming and hardware right now, I can’t argue with you there.

Hasn’t Netflix been “in gaming” a while? You can access a lot of games on mobile from them. I opened my Netflix Android app and just from the suggested I can play Red Dead Redemption, Story Teller, Dead Cells, Spirit Fairer, Shredder’s Revenge, Street Fighter, and bunch of Choose your own Adventure type stuff from their own IPs. They’ve been angling in to game publishing for a while.

I thought that they were joking, as stuff like this also happens in open software and can take ages to fix (if it’s even kept up to date for a lot of niche software), and most of us use SOME sort proprietary software even if there’s a bigger % of open source enthusiasts on Lemmy.
That’s why the Android/iOS comment was even more out of place.
But then again, this is Lemmy…it might have been literal…
Neither, because that would actually require praxis.
