the price point isn’t outrageous, but it’s not compelling when an Xbox controller can be bought for a third the price. Track-pads are nice, but people playing Steam are often sitting right next to a keyboard and mouse anyway.
I don’t read my replies

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to gather racial data. Knowing that black Americans are more susceptible to high blood pressure isn’t racist.

For the longest time, Windows defender would flag .7zip compression files as a Trojan. It would automatically delete the file as soon as I had created it.

Apple products are great. The Apple ecosystem is not. If you like FOSS, you’re going to have a bad time.
Putting music on my iPhone sucks because iTunes won’t recognize or transfer .FLAC format. File sharing on iPhone is really inconstant and buggy. And I need a whole 3rd party app to get the data moved. Or I can upload things to iCloud 5GB at a time.

Most of the batteries in EVs are still in service. As the tech ages, their is going to be a need for a robust recycling program. Led-acid batteries (the kind in gas cars) already has a 90+% closed supply system which means the primary input for new batteries is old batteries.
With robust recycling, resource extraction can actually go down even as we use more and more batteries.

It’s nice to see that at least one billionaire who put Trump in power is facing direct consequences. And I don’t think it’s lost on the Iranians that they’re targeting the true power structure in America.

Eugenics has always been a popular idea, all you have to do is call it something else.
In internet culture, the movie Idiocracy (2006) is extremely popular and the most common sentiment is that it’s coming true. It’s a cute move, but it’s central premise is Eugenics: the idea that if humans are allowed to breed naturally, it’ll lead to societal collapse. There are so many online people who think that movie represents how evolution works. It’s scary.

In the Middle East: drones deliver to Amazon.

I think Ai is a solution to our fucked up relationship with naked bodies and sex.
I think your attitude to sex work is a fucked up relationship with naked bodies and sex.

I’m the same way. My Debian server is two versions out of date, but it’s still getting security updates and works, so why in the world would I upgrade?

In the future, when Windows users say “advanced users can turn that crap off” they’ll mean the power button, not the group policy editor.

I started with Debian and am driving Catchy now. Catchy will pull you into the terminal more than Debian will, but you don’t sound like someone put off by that.
The good news is that pacman is easy to learn and Catchy’s default terminal app is superior.

Humanoid robots are as dumb as a bag of hammers. It’s like when the first automobiles looked like carriages because that’s what everyone was used to.
The only practical reason to make a robot look like a person is so you can fuck it. That’s it. Every other task can be performed better by removing human limitations and complexity.

So now Ubuntu is the OS where “advanced users can just turn all that crap off”.
Tech in general has a huge boomer-humor problem in that all those old fucks that wrote the original code stuffed it full of puns, in-jokes, and idioms that are only relevant today in retirement homes in Ohio.
And I don’t mean this is annoying or funny, but as a legitimate problem. It’s bad enough that you have to learn English to code, you also are disadvantaged for not sharing the culture with retirement age white dudes from America.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it was good boomer humor, but remember, these are the guys who think “Linux Is Not uniX” is funny.

Their are already Linux phone options. I’m talking about full-fat installations and even distro-hopping.

PC players are always going to lead the trend because we have the most options. Microsoft and Sony are in a race to enshitify their ecosystems, while Nintendo is actively hostile towards it’s customers and fans.
Meanwhile I’m playing through what was originally a Playstation exclusive title that I got on sale on Steam, and run on Linux.

Bitcoin is for dodging sanctions and the influence America has over the international banking and payment systems. It’s also may shield third parties from sanctions the US may impose on those who transact with Iran.
Is there any research on this?
Back in the 90s, there was a theory that living near power-lines was unhealthy, but later shown to be bunk. Also similar to “electro magnetic sensitivity” like Chuck in “Better Call Saul”. Does inaudible sound effect people’s health?
