Don’t be too hard on yourself, I’m not autistic and I also don’t get the point he’s trying to make. Probably something like “get a better job”, “leave to somewhere where things are better”, “go live with your friends/parents/whatever”.

There was also William the third of Orange, who first lived in the Netherlands where he had no wife but a lot of really close friends who would visit him frequent behind closed doors. He eventually married his cousin Mary Stuart and became the king of England and Scotland in 1689.

13·4 months agoAs previously reported, this is perhaps one of the more unusual research developments to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated shortages of ventilators and artificial lungs to assist patients’ breathing and prevent respiratory failure.

4·4 months agoI don’t believe bar alcohol would become cheaper (at least in my country). Bars are often times leased, and a lot of times the landlords are companies like Heineken. They charge some very high rent, and even have their own version of dynamic pricing where you can lease a not so popular bar, make it profitable again and then see the rent doubled because now it’s A-list property. I’ve also never seen a price in retail go down due to lower costs in general, the difference gets pocketed by the company.

9·4 months agoNo, for not needing to breathe the fluid needs to oxygenated, so there’s probably some circulation of the fluid needed for that, and an oxygen tank. Also, breathing isn’t exactly a voluntary reflex.

17·4 months agoThe team recruited 27 healthy adult men in Japan, each of whom received a dose of non-oxygenated perfluorodecalin via the anus. They were asked to retain the liquid for a full hour as the dosage slowly increased from 25 to 1,500 mL. Twenty of the men successfully completed the experiment.
Last sentence had me laughing and thinking “only in Japan”.

Also, for the maximum age they are the younger one. So assuming age is 30, substract 7 and multiply the outcome by 2, maximum date age is 46…

Thanks for taking my trolling in good stride. I actually loved the internet of 20 years ago. It was totally different from today, it’s actually a shame a lot of the way it was is gone forever. I vividly remember frequenting a few blogs, just slow chatting in the comments, making your own response images, hosting your own stuff like these images, sound clips and whatever else. Most ISP’s would give you some server space to host your own static html pages, and lot’s of people used this. The blogs would host photoshop contests, link to stuff they liked, reported on news or music or whatever their niche. The blogs I visited are mostly still around today, but they just don’t draw the engagement anymore.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Has anyone pirated their internet?
41·9 months agoAbout 20 years ago, there was only dial-up internet available in my street. My parents lived about 200 m away from me in another street, and they could get ADSL. So I set up a wireless bridge to them, and it worked surprisingly well after some tweaking. Kept it running for a few years, eventually got my own connection because one day my dad called me because he needed the router password. Turns out he was also sharing the connection with his neighbour who was running an internet radio station.

I have chickens, but no rats because I took precautions against rats, foxes, martens and whatever else roams outside. It’s not even difficult to do this, just make sure there’s no food laying around, and plan for the coop to be vermin proof.
