I remember Java being seen as the best thing ever in the 90’s, and it was considered “cool” at that time. So cool even, that it became the programming equivalent of a hammer, every coding challenge looked like a nail for which you could use it.

I’ve heard deflation is the end of the world!
Thanks Trump!
Govt subsidies? Really?
That’s Hinduism, not Buddhism.
I totally believe this. We see it here in the Netherlands (and other EU countries) for all big tech companies, they’ll build some big energy hogging thing, and then buy up all the renewable energy certificates from the market. The general public then ofcourse needs fossil fuels for their energy demand, but that’s beside the point.
You’re thinking rational. Tesla prices skyrocketed during the covid pandemic when wallstreetbets was gaining traction. That’s probably all you need to know.
A head with beautiful hair too!
These all require someone to actually pick up the phone, instead of playing an automated message.
Biggest decline in my country is because lease companies don’t like them in their fleet anymore; Musk has just randomly reduced prices in the past, making it difficult to estimate the remaining value at the end of the lease term. On the other hand business drivers used to have a generous tax exemption when driving an EV, which has been cut by our government. These drivers may now be better of driving an ICE. All in all this reduces the market share of Tesla drastically, since Tesla’s are almost exclusively used as company lease cars.
There’s a fork of Wordpress which still has the old editor, which looks fine to me. I don’t know anything about the people behind it though, and haven’t yet tried it myself.
It does, but google decided I needed to buy a new one, not download the manual.
I used to be pretty good at googling stuff, but the last 1 or 2 years it just won’t work anymore. For instance, I had to charge a battery yesterday, and the power led started blinking when I put the battery in. I didn’t know if this meant either charging or faulty battery, so I googled it. Got pages of ads for this particular charger, but no answer. So google is just a big marketplace these days, and nothing more.
Just so you know, a dremel battery is charging when the power led blinks.
And this is the reason I wouldn’t think getting 72 virgins after death is a reward.
Boulderdash II on C64.
To clarify, the pompous part relates to “devote my energies to building up an audience”. But maybe it’s because I devote my energies to shitposting instead. On the other points I can get where you’re coming from.
I will never again devote my energies to building up an audience on a platform whose management can sever my relationship to that audience at will
I don’t know who this person is, but that seems a bit pompous.
Trump seems to be senile already (the dancing town hall meeting comes to mind), so I think it’s more the question when Vance will take over, not if he will try.
I don’t think I’ve ever owned any version of Windows.
About 20 years ago, there was only dial-up internet available in my street. My parents lived about 200 m away from me in another street, and they could get ADSL. So I set up a wireless bridge to them, and it worked surprisingly well after some tweaking. Kept it running for a few years, eventually got my own connection because one day my dad called me because he needed the router password. Turns out he was also sharing the connection with his neighbour who was running an internet radio station.
