But my mum used to cook boiled potatoes and Brussels sprouts for dinner with no seasonings at all, and beef or lamb so bland and chewy I would gag. Luckily we had tons of curry shops and an influx of other “foreign” cuisine in the 70s to give my taste buds some exercise.
